Dane County: Initial Assessment In $108 Million In Damage

                                                 Dane County Asks Federal Government for Help

 

Today- Dane County Executive Parisi formally asked the State of Wisconsin and the Federal Government for help as initial assessment of damages are in. An estimated $108 million in public and private damages have been incurred throughout Dane County as the County braces for more rain and flooding. This initial estimate does not include County or State costs which will be significant considering the large amount of damage to public infrastructure including bridges and highways.

 

“Dane County residents have shown their resilience over the last week,” said Dane County Executive Parisi. “I am so proud of our first responders, emergency personal and residents who have worked  around the clock to help their neighbors and households across the county affected by this horrific event.”

 

859 residents incurred an estimated $69 million in damages to their property. Public sector local governments (not including Dane County Government or the State of Wisconsin) were totaled at $38 million in damages. A full assessment of  agriculture and business losses are not included in these numbers. These numbers are expected to be significant. Preliminary assessment and should not be interpreted as full accounting of this flood event.

 

Federal public Assistance and individual household assistance programs are also requested by the county and affected jurisdictions. In the weeks and months ahead Dane County government will work with residents, businesses and local governments with their recovery.
