County Executive Parisi Extends Deepest Gratitude, Congratulations to Retiring Director of Dane County Land and Water Resources

One of Dane County’s longest serving employees has decided that after more than 40 years of work on conservation, improving water quality, and enhancing the quality of life for all county residents, the time has come to retire.

 

County Executive Joe Parisi announced today that Kevin Connors, Director of Dane County Land and Water Resources, will retire next month, more than four decades after he was first hired as a Soil and Water Conservation Technician for Dane County.  His first day on the job for Dane County was April 5, 1976.  His last day will be July 21, 2017.

 

“We’re all so incredibly grateful Kevin chose Dane County for his distinguished career of caring for the lakes, lands, and places dear to people throughout Dane County,” Parisi said.  “Over his many decades, Kevin has touched the lives of many with his genuine care for people, unrivaled work ethic, and positive spirit.  Raised on a farm outside Mount Horeb, Kevin remains a ‘farm kid’ at heart who knows every corner of this county and how they’ve changed over the past 40 years.  We wish him and his family all the best for a relaxing and well-deserved retirement,” Parisi concluded.

 

Kevin has served as Director of Dane County Land and Water Resources since April 3, 2005.  The Department oversees and coordinates the county’s lake and water quality work, collaborates on soil conservation efforts with farmers and other property owners, oversees park and natural resource area preservation and development along with a number of other efforts to protect our lakes, streams, and lands.

 

Parisi has named Laura Hicklin, current Deputy Director of Land and Water Resources, as Interim Director.  Following consultation with Connors and Hicklin, Parisi is naming John Reimer as the Department’s Interim Deputy Director.
