Dane County Announces Small Business Funds Available

                                                               Parisi Touts Availability of CDBG Funds

 

MADISON – Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced  today that Dane County’s Microenterprise Business Loan (MBL) Program is now accepting loan applications totaling $1,500 to $8,000 for eligible small businesses.  Businesses located in Dane County outside the City of Madison with 5 or fewer employees are eligible for the funds meant to help establish a new business or create jobs for low- and moderate-income residents.

 

“I am proud to once again publicize these important loans that can help a small business get off the ground,” said County Executive Parisi. “These business are the true backbone of our successful economy and serve a vital role in employing people that are ready to work.”

 

The Microenterprise Loan Program is funded with federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Earlier this year, County Executive Parisi cautioned that the program’s monies, given to create jobs for low- and moderate-income citizens while supporting local businesses, could be eliminated by President Trump’s federal budget.

 

“These critical dollars train residents for jobs, keep people in their homes, and help people afford housing,” said Parisi. “This program shines a bright light on why these funds are needed and incredibly helpful in our community.”

 

The MBL program is administered by the Dane County Office of Economic & Workforce Development (OED) and is overseen by the Dane County CDBG Commission.  Applications are currently available at the OED office with a complete list of conditions and requirements.
