The Dane County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution for Dane County to join the Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition (WLGCC).
According to the resolution, the WLGCC provides a platform for members to collaborate on overcoming barriers to decarbonization, accelerating local climate change solutions, and ensuring the benefits of the clean energy economy are distributed to everyone throughout the state.
In 2020, the Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change issued the Dane County Climate Action Plan, which created a path toward cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half countywide by 2030. The County Board adopted 2020 Resolution 181 supporting the Climate Action Plan in 2020.
“Dane County has made progress towards reducing our carbon footprint, but the challenge climate change poses requires communities, states, and nations to rise to meet it,” said County Board Chair Patrick Miles. “Through partnership and collaboration in this coalition, together we can be greater than the sum of our parts to meet that challenge.”
