Newspaper Delivery Person Arrested for Stealing Checks

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Hans E. Hanson, age 58 of Waunakee, for allegedly stealing over $10,000 in checks.

Deputies have been investigating several fraud complaints across the northeast part of Dane County, the same area where Hanson has a newspaper deliver route. Multiple victims reported checks being stolen from their mailboxes. Hanson would allegedly alter the checks and cash them.

With the assistance of Waunakee Police, deputies arrested Hanson on January 31 and he was booked in to the Dane County Jail on numerous counts of theft and forgery. Additional victims/charges may be forthcoming.
